Kathryn studied medicine at Oxford University, then at the
Middlesex Hospital in London, qualifying in 1974.
She first experienced homeopathy when living in America in 1968
but continued to pursue an orthodox medical career for some
years, training in Psychiatry in London before moving into
General Practice in 1981. During a professional lull, when busy
with childbearing and rearing, Kathryn reconnected with
homeopathy and finally started training in this branch of
medicine in 1989 while continuing as a GP.
Whilst studying on the 3 year HPTG course in Oxford she began to
use homeopathy more and more in General Practice and then later
trained on the Teachers’ Course at HPTG, co-founded the MFHom
course in Tunbridge Wells and spent 7 years as a part-time
consultant in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability. This gave
her useful experience in non-verbal homeopathy.
Kathryn also
co-worked with veterinary colleagues on severe genetic disorders
and behaviour disorders.
Kathryn uses flower essences and is interested in ‘energy’ and
‘resonance’ in health in general. She is a founder member of the
‘Fountain Group for Hastings’ (1999).
In 2004, whilst continuing to work part-time as a GP and
teaching with HPTG and HETW (Homeopathic Education at Tunbridge
Wells), she started a private homeopathic practice in the
Hastings area.
As a teacher Kathryn enjoys introducing students to homeopathy
and equipping them with the practical know-how to get started as
effective homeopaths. As a doctor she revels in using homeopathy
appropriately in daily practice with patients new to it and
with a very brief consultation time, as well as in ‘long-case’
work where needed.
Kathryn is a keen proponent of work-life balance for herself and
colleagues - to which end she talentlessly plays the drums,
sings accapella and dances rock’n roll.
